Civil and Family Justice Law Clinic

Students in the Civil & Family Justice Clinic represent clients involved in general civil and family law matters through placements at the offices of:

  • Neighborhood Legal Services,
  • KidsVoice,
  • the Allegheny County Bar Foundation’s Parent Advocates Project,
  • the Alleghny County Law Department.

In addition, some clinic students participate in the representation of clients through the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Pro Se Motions Project. Through this project clinic students and volunteer attorneys assist indigent pro se litigants in Family Court. Assistance is provided in matters involving visitation, custody, paternity, and Protection from Abuse Orders (PFAs).

At the Neighborhood Legal Services placements, students also represent clients in general civil matters, including landlord/tenant disputes. At all placements, clinic students, working closely with their supervising attorneys, take on significant responsibility at all stages of client representation.
