| “Duquesne’s
tradition has recognized the duty of a legal institution
to train students of the law so that they may become
the advocates of the law. No longer can a lawyer
survive only on the outcome of a case. He or she
must be concerned by the long-term ramifications
on the profession and on his or her practice of
law in the future. Today a student must appreciate
the duty to protect one’s reputation as a
lawyer and the legal profession. Since this duty
is tied so closely to the advancement of the law,
the education of a prospective lawyer must include
the examination of those ethically related issues
as well as the legal theories traditionally associated
with a legal education. The intimacy that Duquesne
offers seems to facilitate such discussion.” |
