Dr. Murray earned his B.S. from La Salle University,
his J.D. from the Catholic University of America
and his S.J.D. from the University of Wisconsin.
After serving as Dean of the University of Pittsburgh
and Villanova University law schools, he came
to Duquesne in 1988 as University President, where
his 13-year tenure was marked by unprecedented
growth and two successful capital campaigns, raising
more than $200 million.
Since completing his Presidency in 2001, he has
served as University Chancellor and a full-time
member of the Law faculty. One of America’s
leading experts on contract law, he is author
of the widely-used text “Murray on Contracts”
and has written numerous other case books, law
review articles and opinion pieces for the mainstream
press.
An active leader in the regional community, Dr.
Murray chaired the ComPAC 21 committee, which
led to the reform of Allegheny County’s
governmental structure.
