When should I apply?

Applicants to the Law School's full time Day program should submit the application by late November. This will allow our office the four to six weeks of processing time which is necessary during our peak processing season. The Admissions Committee will begin notifying applicants of their acceptance in late January so it is best to have the application completed by this time.

Applicants to the Evening program should submit the application by late January. The first notifications of acceptance to the Evening Division are typically made in late March. We do not have a mid-year admissions program.

Applicants to the Part-Time Day program should submit the application by late April.

We do not offer a mid-year admission program

Does Duquesne offer academic scholarships?

YES. ALL accepted full-time students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships awarded by the Law School. These partial tuition awards are made each year to the most qualified applicants, based on their records of achievement, aptitude for the study of law, and general background. These scholarships can be renewed annually provided the student meets specified criteria of achievement. It is recommended that students interested in being evaluated for scholarship submit their admission applications by early January. A separate application or request is NOT required.

How are applications reviewed?

All complete applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Relevant factors such as academic achievement, competitiveness of the undergraduate institution, aptitude as measured by the LSAT, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation and other experiences are carefully considered by the Admissions Committee. Applicants may also provide transcripts and information on employment experience since these factors are critical to the admissions process. The Admissions Committee will discuss all relevant information then make a decision on the applicant's request for admission. Since all admission decisions are final, and will not be reconsidered, it is important to provide complete information on the application.

Does the Admissions Committee require personal interviews with applicants?

NO. The volume of applications reviewed each year precludes personal interviews as part of the admissions process. However, we do encourage applicants to visit the school. Tours, informational appointments, and class visits can be arranged by calling 412.396.6300.
