Foreign Attorney Program

The Law School provides a program for lawyers who were educated outside the United States to complete the required course work to become eligible to sit for the Pennsylvania Bar Examination.

Applicants must consult the Bar Admission Rules for information on all requirements.

The program consists of 39 credits of required courses and takes two full years to complete. The course work may be taken in either the Day or Evening Division.

In order to be considered for admission as a non-degree candidate who intends to sit for the Pennsylvania Bar Exam, applicants must submit the following to the Law School Admissions Office:

1) Completed application form
2) $60 Non-refundable application fee
3) Documentation of legal education (transcripts, diploma)
4) Documentation of admission to practice in another country
5) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores
6) Letter of understanding, signed and dated

Application deadlines for this program are the same as those for matriculating students.

It is strongly suggested that the TOEFL be taken by March 1. The Admissions Committee will generally consider a total TOEFL score of 600 to be minimally acceptable.
