With all the benefits a Duquesne Law School
education has to offer, it’s no surprise
that admission to the school is a goal shared
by many people, both throughout the Pittsburgh
region and around the country. Last year, applications
were received from residents of 48 states and
several countries. The applicants earned undergraduate
degrees at more than 350 different colleges
and universities.
Yet because of its commitment to small class
sizes and personalized attention, the Admissions
Committee annually selects only those students
it judges to best exhibit the requisite abilities
and background for academic and professional
success. About 120 students are admitted to
the Day division each year. Smaller numbers
are admitted to the Part-Time Day and Evening
divisions.
Every applicant is individually considered
by the Admissions Committee for acceptance into
the program of his or her choice. The thorough
review process ensures that all relevant factors
are considered before a decision is made.
Throughout the admissions process, particular
emphasis is placed on the applicant’s
prior academic record and aptitude for the study
of law as measured by the Law School Admission
Test (LSAT).
Applicants for the Part-Time Day and Evening
Divisions often have significant work experience
or postgraduate training in other fields. These
types of accomplishments are considered and
should be described in the student’s application
materials.
