
2008 Participants
Introduction
Students from Duquesne University's School of
Law, as well as their counterparts at other
American law schools, are invited to Duquesne University's 15-day summer study program in Vatican City in June 2009.
Participants can earn 4.5 hours of ABA-approved
credit, while taking the three courses in:
- Roman
Catholic canon law
- Roman law
- Legal
Process for Canonization.

Graded credit and
a certificate of completion will be awarded
upon successful completion of the course work.

Classes and Faculty
Classes are offered
during one-half day sessions, leaving the rest of
the day and weekends free for students to explore
Rome and the rest of Italy.
Classes are taught by Duquesne Law School's full-time faculty and
guest lecturers by various officials in the
Roman Curia. There are also field trips to relevant curial
offices and tribunals.
Classes meet Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m. or 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. and include Roman
Law taught by Dr. Sam Astorino; Roman Catholic
Canon Law, taught by Dean Emeritus Nicholas P.
Cafardi, and the Legal Process of Canonization
taught by Professor Ron Ricci. The Legal Process
of Canonization will be taught the first 3 days,
followed by 6 days each of Canon Law and Roman
Law.
Practicing lawyers may participate in an overlapping
