Trial Moot Court Program
The Trial Moot Court Program provides third and
fourth-year students with an opportunity to gain
valuable litigation experience through an intraschool
trial competition. The law students prepare and
present their cases in a live courtroom environment
with members of the local bench and bar serving
as judges. Students who participate in this competition
receive academic credit for their work. The winners
of the intraschool competition advance to compete
in national trial competitions sponsored by the
Association of Trial Lawyers of America (National
Student Trial Competition) and the Academy of
Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County (Gourley Cup
Competition). Second-year students also have the
opportunity to represent the Law School in interschool
competitions, such as the one sponsored by The
Texas Young Lawyers Association and The American
College of Trial Lawyers. In addition to coordinating
the intraschool competitions, the Trial Moot Court
Honor Society offers an oral advocacy workshop
for first-year students and coordinates a high
school mock trial program.
