Stacey Steiner obtained an undergraduate degree from Duquesne University majoring in History and earning a Business Law certificate.  She then received her Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law in 1998.  While there, she competed in both the Appellate and Trial Moot Court programs for which she was inducted into the Order of Barristers.  She was also Chairwoman of the Women’s Law Association and chosen to give the commencement address.

For the past 16 years, Ms. Steiner has been employed as an attorney by the Allegheny County Office of the Public Defender representing indigent individuals in the criminal courts.  During her time at the Office of the Public Defender, she has served in three divisions, tried countless jury and nonjury trials, and fought for juveniles to be transferred back to juvenile court.  She was named as the Deputy Director of the Trial Division in January of 2013.  Her passion in this position is to serve as a resource and mentor to the newer attorneys.    Prior to her work with the Office of the Public Defender, she practiced criminal defense, family law, and personal injury law as a private practitioner.

Ms. Steiner was an adjunct faculty member of Point Park University teaching Criminal Justice courses for five years.  She is currently the supervising attorney for a Specialized Externship for students from Duquesne University School of Law.  She also supervises students in the University of Pittsburgh, School of Social Work.  She is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association where she is active in the Criminal Litigation Section.

Stacey currently serves as the Immediate Past President of the Association of Ladies of Charity for the Diocese of Pittsburgh.  This group of nearly 1500 women works to combat poverty by serving the needs of the sick, poor, and marginalized throughout Allegheny and the surrounding counties.  Last year the group logged over 100,000 hours of service to the community.
