The Dean of Students Office works with the Admissions staff to plan Orientation, which is held in August immediately before the first week of classes. The three-day event introduces 1L students to academic expectations and student life at Duquesne University School of Law.

The program features presentations and social events including:  

  • An introduction to 1L studies
  • Professionalism and ethics presentations
  • Lunch with current students
  • Student organizations fair
  • Dean’s reception for students and guests
  • Mock classes
  • Legal research and writing small groups
  • Time management presentations
  • Dean’s town hall
  • Evening boat cruise

Course Registration & Scheduling

Incoming students register for the first-year curriculum at Orientation. Add/drop remains open for the fall semester from registration through the first week of classes, and for the spring semester, from late in the fall semester through the first week of classes.

When planning schedules, students may meet with their faculty advisors, concentration advisors, or the Assistant Dean of Students. More information is provided to accepted students.
