The Duquesne Italian-American Law Society annually sponsors La Legge con Brio to raise money for an organization that is near and dear to the hearts of current and past law students.

Our law students established "Panucci's Promise," in memory of Peggy Panucci, mother of their classmate, Brian Panucci, L’13, who passed away from breast cancer during Brian’s second year of law school. Various student organizations worked toward the common goal of raising sufficient funds to donate therapeutic chairs to the chemotherapy treatment center at Magee Women's Cancer Center.

Since 2012, "Panucci's Promise" has donated 4 chairs in Peggy's name through the continued fundraising efforts of the Office of Student Organizations. The chairs benefit local women in treatment at Magee Women's Cancer Center by providing comfort during their most difficult time.

Peggy may have never attended Duquesne University School of Law, but she had a positive impact on the Duquesne University community.  She was a mother to many, a source of warmth and strength, and the ultimate hockey mom, who loved to bake and took care of everyone around her. Peggy was treated for five years at the Magee Women's Cancer Center. We can think of no better way to honor her than to provide patients comfort during times of fear and uncertainty the way Peggy did for those around her as she battled cancer.

Even after death, the spirit of Peggy Panucci continues to bring out the love and strength in those who are willing to lend their hand to help others in need.

The purpose of the Duquesne Italian-American Law Society is to promote Italian-American culture and heritage. They also provides a venue for students to network through social, educational, and professional events. Membership is open to all individuals who wish to learn about Italian-American culture,

heritage, and its connection with the legal community. In addition, the students formed a committee which plans to continue the Panucci's Promise fundraising efforts in support of cancer treatment.
