The Allegheny County Bar Association's Homer S. Brown Division (HSBD) will host the 20th Annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast and Program on Monday, January 21, at the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, which is near our campus at 2001 Wylie Avenue.  The breakfast and program commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. King as a civil rights leader whose work led to changes in law and social justice.

A breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. and will be followed by a brief program at 8:30 a.m. HSBD will honor Dr. Larry E. Davis, Director of the Center on Race and Social Problems at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work as the recipient of its 2019 Drum Major for Justice Award. The name of the award originates from one of Dr. King's final sermons about a eulogy that might be given in the event of his death. Additionally, the ACBA will honor, the Pittsburgh Courier and New Pittsburgh Courier newspapers will be recognized with a special Legacy Award by the HSBD for providing over a century of service.

Please note, the university is coordinating free travel to and from the event, which is open to the public.

For travel, buses will be parked in front of the Student Union by Starbucks and will depart at 7:30 AM and return members to campus immediately after conclusion of the program.

Please contact the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at 412-396-1117 if you have any questions or need further assistance.  We look forward to bringing our community together for this important occasion.
