Duquesne School of Law students:  100% pass rate for NY bar

This year eight Duquesne University School of Law students took the New York bar exam and all eight passed the first time. This is quite an accomplishment, considering historic national lows across the country.

According to the New York State Board of Law Examiners, 9,679 examinees — 253 lower than last year’s exam, and the lowest number of candidates to take a July exam since 2004 — sat for the test this past summer. Of those examinees, 63 percent passed the New York bar exam. The overall pass rate for first-time takers was 74 percent. These results are certainly not as good as they were last year, and seem to be dangerously close to July 2015’s results, which were the worst the state had seen in at least 35 years.

Duquesne School of Law Associate Director of Bar Studies and Assistant Professor of Legal Skills Ashley London said, "This represents a significant number for Duquesne. Also, this in light of the fact that the NY Bar results this July 2018 are the LOWEST to take the exam since 2004, makes the accomplishment even more impressive."
