ABA National Appellate Advocacy Team

Duquesne's Appellate Moot Court Board sent two teams to the prestigious ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition ("NAAC") in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this past weekend. Appellate Moot Court Board students Sam Nolan (3E), Eric Wyant (2L), and Serena Tamburrino (2L) argued on and off brief a total of four times over three days, beating teams from the University of Georgia School of Law and DePaul Law School. Nolan, Wyant, and Tamburrino advanced to the regional semi-finals, and lost in a split decision to a team from Southern Illinois School of Law.

The team also earned an award for writing the 5th Best Brief. In addition, the moot court team of Danielle Mrdjenovich (2L), Oluwaseyi Odunaiya (2L), and Kelly Capone (2L) also did a fabulous job, beating a team from the University of Memphis School of Law and narrowly failing to advance to the semi-final round. Our students' strong performance was a result of months of hard work and preparation. Adj. Prof. Erin Karsman coached the teams.
