Students in Federal Litigation Clinic argue before U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit

Tuesday, May 1, 2018

The Federal Litigation Clinic represented a client before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit this semester. The case, which involved an individual who had been convicted by a New Jersey court of white-collar charges, centered on whether the state violated the client’s right to a speedy trial and specifically, whether the delay of 15 months between the client’s arrest and indictment violated the Sixth Amendment.

During the clinic’s representation of the client, three law students, Sara Watkins, Matthew Goddard, and Adrienne Box, wrote two briefs, and two of the students, Matthew Goddard and Adrienne Box, are arguing the case on May 1, 2018 before a three-judge panel of the Third Circuit sitting in Pittsburgh.
